Santa in the Sand

As the story goes, Santa flies around the world in his sleigh drawn by nine reindeer. He slides down chimneys, leaves gifts for children and enjoys milk and cookies.

In Kenner, LA. Santa is in the sand.

Theoretically, at least.

Every December, Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss (“TKN”) have hosted a charity tournament to raise money to provide Christmas gifts for families in need.

Kloth and Nuss are currently the No. 1 women’s beach volleyball team in the country and are representing the U.S.A. in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Even though the Olympic qualifying process has them traveling around the world for tournaments, not to mention practicing long hours daily, giving back to the people of Louisiana remains a priority for the duo.

Santa in the Sand Juniors Clinic

Professional beach volleyball stars Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss hosted a Free Juniors Volleyball Clinic, attracting a record number of juniors with over 100 kids participating. It was a fantastic opportunity for young athletes to learn from the best, hone their skills, and have fun on the court. Taryn and Kristen led drills, offered personalized coaching tips, and shared their journey from junior players to champions. Whether participants were just starting out or looking to improve their game, the clinic catered to all skill levels. It was an inspiring and energetic environment that left a lasting impression on everyone involved.

The Santa in the Sand Charity Event was a huge success, featuring a 4-Person Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament with a record 78 teams competing for a great cause. Every participant received a commemorative t-shirt, and the event was packed with games, prizes, and plenty of holiday cheer.

Attendees enjoyed music and entertainment throughout the day, and many took part in the silent auction for a chance to win amazing items—all while supporting a wonderful cause. Whether playing or cheering from the sidelines, it was a holiday event that no one wanted to miss!

After Party

First year but Certainly not our last!

Taryn and Kristen had an incredible victory in Doha, winning the World Tour Finals for the second year in a row, and to celebrate, they threw an unforgettable Afterparty following the Santa in the Sand tournament! 🎉

The Afterparty was free to attend and packed with fun for everyone. The night featured a live band, a silent auction with amazing items, photo ops to capture the memories, and a chance to support the Santa in the Sand charity—raising funds to help 10 families in Kenner have a memorable Christmas. 🎄

It was an amazing night of celebration, community, and giving back, and we’re excited to continue this tradition in the years to come. We can’t wait to do it all over again at Coconut Beach next year! 🥂

Special Guest

We were thrilled to have Troy Field join us as a special guest at the Santa in the Sand event, where he also took on the role of MC for the day! Troy brought his energy, charisma, and expertise to the event, keeping the crowd engaged and entertained throughout. His presence added an extra level of excitement to the tournament, and he helped make the day even more memorable. It was an incredible experience, and we're grateful to Troy for being part of the fun. We hope to have him back for future events!
